BIOGRAPHY
Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland. Gillian began her professional career in the UK as a language teacher and soon afterwards decided to try her luck abroad, first in Barcelona and then Italy.
Soon her creative side took over and she headed for Madrid where she trained in theatre arts while expanding her professional profile as a radio journalist, (Spanish National Radio), voice artist (including film dubbing), teacher-trainer and actor.
In 1997, Gillian merged her love of acting, teaching and writing with the creation of her own theatre enterprise, The Lingua Arts Company. For the following 23 years, she wrote, produced and directed 20 plays aimed at Spanish students of English of all ages.
All this while continuing to appear in film and TV in Spain and the UK. This includes in the Spanish-produced TV costume drama Ena, a biographical mini-series about the English wife of King Alfonso XIII, and the British crime drama, Karen Pirie (2025). She also appears in the 2015 Spanish produced but English language TV series, The Refugees after which she switched to comedy in 2016 with the Buscando El Norte. Her film work includes Es Por Tu Bien alongside Javier Cámara (2017) and the horror movie Inside, (2016) directed by Miguel Angel Vivas.
Gillian also speaks Spanish (fluently), French (high level) and Italian (intermediate).
